Which Course Do I Need? Remediation Courses by Concern
Choose the course that matches the concern named in your letter or complaint, then add the Module on Insight, the Reflection Course for Healthcare Professionals and the Module on Remediation. If you are building CPD rather than facing a concern, choose by subject. Every course is online, CPD certified by The CPD Certification Service and carries a CPD certificate on completion.
Facing a complaint, investigation or hearing?
You may have a complaint, an employer investigation or a fitness to practise referral, and you need remediation courses that match the concern raised about you.
Looking for CPD?
You may want CPD accredited courses for appraisal, revalidation or renewal. This page covers both situations.
In short
- Find the concern in your letter or complaint and take the course for that concern.
- Add the three modules on insight, reflection and remediation: £49 and 1.5 CPD hours each.
- The other courses are £79 for 2 CPD hours, except the Medical Ethics Course and Professional Ethics Course, which are £99 for 2.5 CPD hours.
- Need several courses? The Bulk Buy Offer gives you any 10 courses for £500.
Where to start: five steps
Follow these steps to build the right set of courses for your situation.
- Find the concern. Read your letter, complaint or notice of investigation and note the words it uses to describe the concern, such as dishonesty, record keeping or a boundary with a patient or a colleague.
- Take the course for that concern. Use the table below to find the main course for it, and the courses that work alongside it.
- Add the core set. The Module on Insight, Reflection Course for Healthcare Professionals and Module on Remediation courses help you set out what happened, what you have reflected on and what you have changed.
- See your regulator’s page. Your regulator’s page lists the ethics and professionalism courses for your profession.
- Use Bulk Buy if you need several. The Bulk Buy Offer gives you any 10 courses for £500.
Courses by concern
Find the row that describes your concern. The main course deals with that concern directly. The courses alongside it cover related points that a complaint about that concern can raise.
More than one concern?
A letter can name more than one concern, for example a prescribing concern and record keeping. Take the main course for each concern, then add the core set of three modules once. If your concern is not in the table, contact us and we will tell you which courses match it.
Asked to show insight, reflection or remediation
Case examiners and panels look at insight, reflection and remediation when they consider a concern. These three modules are the core set to add to the course for your concern. The Reflection Course for Healthcare Professionals also covers reflective accounts for revalidation, and the Module on Remediation is for when you are asked to remediate or produce a remediation plan.
Just received a complaint or a letter from your regulator
If you have just received a complaint, a letter from your regulator or notice of an investigation, the How to Deal with a Complaint or Investigation course sets out what to do first. If you have a fitness to practise referral, investigation or hearing with the GMC, NMC, HCPC or another UK regulator, the Fitness to Practise for Healthcare Professionals course is written for that situation. Take these alongside the course for your concern.
Please note
No course can decide the outcome of a complaint, investigation or hearing. Take advice from your defence organisation, union or legal representative. This page is general information, not legal advice.
After a finding, sanction or conditions
After a finding, a sanction or conditions on your practice, the next step is to show that you have changed and to rebuild the trust of your regulator, employer or patients. The Rebuilding Trust of Patients, Public, and Healthcare Regulator course deals with that trust. The How to Ensure a Similar Mistake or Misconduct Will Not Be Repeated in Future course is for when a regulator or employer asks you to show that a mistake or misconduct will not be repeated. The Module on Remediation is for evidencing change.
Building CPD rather than facing a concern
Every course on this page can be used for CPD. Each one is CPD certified by The CPD Certification Service and carries a CPD certificate on completion, which you can add to your appraisal portfolio and your CPD record for revalidation or renewal. Choose by the subject you want to cover, using the table above. CPD rules differ between regulators, so check your own regulator’s current CPD guidance.

Frequently asked questions
Which course should I do first?
Start with the course that matches the concern named in your complaint or letter, using the table on this page. Then add the Module on Insight, the Reflection Course for Healthcare Professionals and the Module on Remediation. If you have only just received the complaint or letter, the How to Deal with a Complaint or Investigation course sets out what to do first.
Can I take more than one course?
Yes. If your letter names more than one concern, such as record keeping and dishonesty, take the course for each concern. If you need 10 courses, the Bulk Buy Offer gives you any 10 courses for £500.
Can I use the certificate in my response to my regulator?
You can include your certificate with the evidence you send in your response, along with your own written reflection. The regulator decides what weight to give it. A certificate on its own does not show insight, so explain what you have reflected on and what you now do differently in your practice.
Do the courses count for CPD?
Every course is CPD certified by The CPD Certification Service and carries a CPD certificate on completion, so you can add it to your CPD record for appraisal, revalidation or renewal. CPD rules differ between regulators, so check your own regulator’s current CPD guidance.
What if my concern is not listed?
Contact us with the wording of the concern in your letter or complaint, leaving out any patient details, and we will tell you which courses match it.
How long does each course take?
Each course is measured in CPD hours. The Module on Insight, the Reflection Course for Healthcare Professionals and the Module on Remediation carry 1.5 CPD hours each. The Medical Ethics Course and the Professional Ethics Course carry 2.5 CPD hours each. Every other course on this page carries 2 CPD hours.
