Though most doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologist, physiotherapists and other are well trained in clinical matters,
• they may not be well aware of the professional boundaries and the standards of honesty, probity, ethics and professionalism that the patients, the society and the regulator (GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, GOsC, GCC, HCPC or other regulators) expects of them. And this can lead to them committing a mistake
• during the process of a complaint or an investigation with the GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, GOsC, GCC, HCPC or other regulatory body investigation, the doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologist, physiotherapists or other health and care professionals may fail to build and demonstrate appropriate Insight, Reflection and Remediation, resulting in serious outcomes

The Probity and Ethics courses helps you build your knowledge and understanding of the professional and ethical standards expected of you and also the Insight, Reflection and Remediation.
Any doctor, dentist, nurse, midwife, pharmacist, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologist, physiotherapists or other health and care professional should, unfortunately, expect to be the subject of a complaint in their department or with the GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, GOsC, GCC, HCPC or other regulatory bodies at some point in their career.

Broadly speaking, there are two categories of complaints or investigations:
Clinical complaints, and complaints linked to a breach of honesty, probity, ethics and professionalism (dishonesty, unethical and unprofessional issues or allegations).
The GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, GOsC, GCC, HCPC and other regulatory bodies considers Probity as the fundamental tenet and the foundation of the profession. Thus complaints related to probity, professionalism and ethics are taken very seriously and may lead to sanctions including warning, conditions or suspension.
A good knowledge and understanding of ethics, probity and professionalism as a doctor, dentist, nurse, midwife, pharmacist, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologist, physiotherapists or other health and care professional is very important in:
Everyday practice as a doctor, dentist, nurse, midwife, pharmacist, osteopaths, chiropractors, psychologist, physiotherapists or other health and care professional, when there is a complaint, inquiry or investigation in department or with the GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC, GOsC, GCC, HCPC or other regulatory body, or misconduct, impaired fitness to practice or a sanction like conditions or suspension by the MPTS or other tribunal or panel.
The Probity and Ethics courses help you with this and with improving and demonstrating your insight, reflection and remediation.
