In short

Who we are

Probity & Ethics is a UK provider of CPD-certified courses in ethics, probity, professionalism and fitness to practice, written for registered healthcare and social work professionals.

We were founded in 2020 and have trained more than 1,000 professionals since. The courses are certified by The CPD Certification Service under Provider No. 13197, and are used in two quite different situations: by registrants who have had a concern raised about them and need to evidence insight, reflection and remediation in writing, and by professionals building ordinary CPD for appraisal, revalidation or a return to practice.

We are an independent education provider. We are not a regulator, not a law firm and not a defence organisation, and we are not affiliated with, accredited by or endorsed by any UK healthcare regulator.

What we provide

Three ways to take the courses

Three ways of working, depending on whether you are an individual with a deadline, someone who learns better in a room, or an employer training a team.

Online courses

Twenty-eight self-paced courses, £49 to £99 each, with a page written to each of the nine UK regulators’ standards. Instant access, 1.5 to 2.5 CPD hours each, and a dated certificate on completion. Any ten courses are £500 together.

Live face-to-face courses

Four facilitated day courses run via video link, £499 each or £449 inside the bulk buy bundle. Five CPD hours, a small group, a facilitator and structured work on your own case — which is the part most people find hardest to do alone.

Training for organisations

Group sessions for trusts, practices, clinics and employers, arranged around your rota rather than a published calendar, and shaped around the standards you want covered. A CPD certificate for everyone who completes.

Why we exist

Why the courses are written this way

Most people arrive here in the same week they receive a letter. The courses are built around what happens next.

A letter is not a verdict

A concern being raised is the start of a process, not the end of one. What a registrant does in the weeks that follow is assessed alongside the original allegation, and it is the one part of the process that runs on their own timetable rather than someone else’s.

Three words decide a great deal

Insight, reflection and remediation recur throughout regulatory correspondence, and they are not interchangeable. Being clear about which one a letter is asking for makes a practical difference to how you respond.

Evidence has to be built, not assembled

Steady, documented activity over time reads very differently from a burst of it gathered shortly before a deadline. The dates are visible to whoever reads the file.

Nobody should have to work it out alone

The process is unfamiliar to almost everyone who enters it, and the vocabulary is not the vocabulary of clinical practice. Explaining it plainly is most of what these courses do.

How we work

What we hold to

Four things we hold to, and one we will not do.

Written against the published standards

Each regulator page is written to that regulator’s own standards document and links to it, so you can read the source rather than our summary of it.

Written by a clinician

The courses are written and reviewed by a practising doctor with postgraduate training in healthcare law and ethics, not assembled from generic compliance material.

Independently certified

Certification by The CPD Certification Service is an external assessment of the material. It is not self-declared, and it is not granted by us.

Plain about what a course cannot do

No course decides a case, and no provider can promise an outcome. What a certificate gives you is an independent record that you acted, and when. The weight comes from the reflection you write alongside it.

Accreditation

Certified by The CPD Certification Service

Every course is independently assessed and certified by The CPD Certification Service, under Provider No. 13197. Each awards CPD hours or points and issues a dated certificate on completion, which can be included in a remediation portfolio, a written response, an appraisal folder or a CPD record.

It is worth being precise about what that does and does not mean. No UK healthcare regulator approves, accredits or endorses courses from any provider, including us, and none keeps an approved list. Anyone claiming otherwise is describing something that does not exist.

What independent certification provides is an external check on the material and a dated, verifiable record. That is genuinely useful, and it is a different thing from regulatory approval.

Common questions

Questions people ask about us

Who are Probity & Ethics?

A UK provider of CPD-certified courses in ethics, probity, professionalism and fitness to practice, founded in 2020 and based in London. We trade as Harley MedAesthetics Ltd. More than 1,000 healthcare professionals have taken our courses.

Are you connected to a regulator?

No. We are an independent education provider. We are not affiliated with, accredited by or endorsed by the GMC, NMC, GDC, GPhC, HCPC, GOC, GCC, GOsC, Social Work England or any other regulator. No UK healthcare regulator approves courses from any provider.

What does “CPD certified” actually mean?

It means the material has been independently assessed by The CPD Certification Service, which issues our provider number, 13197. Each course awards CPD hours or points and produces a dated certificate. It is an external check on the course, not a regulatory approval and not a guarantee of any outcome.

Who takes your courses?

Registered healthcare and social work professionals across the UK, at every stage. Some are responding to a live concern; others are building CPD for appraisal or revalidation, returning to practice after time away, or working towards restoration. There is no entry requirement and you do not need to be currently registered.

Who writes the courses?

Dr Shehzad Iqbal, a practising doctor with MBBS, MRCS, MRCGP and a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Law and Ethics from the University of Dundee. He has written and delivered this training since 2020 and reviews every course on the site.

Will a course resolve my case?

No. No course decides a case and no provider can promise an outcome. What a certificate gives you is an independent, dated record that you acted, and when — and the reflection you write alongside it is what carries the weight.

Where are you based?

119 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5PU. The online courses are taken from anywhere; the face-to-face courses run live via video link rather than in a room, so they are also open to anyone in the UK.
