In short: The Reflection Workshop — Insight, Reflect, Remediate, by Probity & Ethics, is a live, facilitated reflection CPD course by video link on Zoom for UK healthcare professionals who need to show insight, write a reflection and evidence remediation for an allegation or regulator investigation (GMC, NMC, GDC, GPhC, HCPC or another regulator), a complaint or a fitness to practise concern, and for CPD. It covers what to reflect on, how to write an effective reflection, Gibbs’ reflective cycle, and discussion that builds insight into your own situation, finishing with a SMART action plan. 5 CPD hours, £499, CPD certified and accredited by The CPD Certification Service (provider no. 13197), with a certificate on completion.
Who this course is for
Asked to show insight
Your regulator, a case examiner or a panel has asked for evidence of insight, or said that your insight was limited. Insight is assessed at almost every stage, whatever the allegation.
Writing a reflective statement
You have to write a reflection for a response, a hearing or a review, and you want it to show understanding rather than read as an apology or an excuse.
Building a remediation plan
You need a plan of what you will change, with dates and evidence, that a panel can see has happened.
Advised to complete a course before you respond
Your defence organisation, union or solicitor has suggested work on reflection before your response goes in.
Building your CPD
You want a live, facilitated course on reflective practice for your CPD, appraisal or revalidation records.
The concerns this course speaks to
Limited insight
A decision or a letter that says your insight is limited or developing. It is the element most often described as lacking.
Reflection that does not land
A reflection that describes what happened but not why, or what has changed. Reflection is the written record of insight.
Remediation without a plan
Courses and reading with no account of what they changed. Insight without remediation is an account; remediation without insight is a certificate.
Preparing for a hearing or review
A panel will ask what you understand now and what is different. Your written reflection is often the first thing it reads.
Any allegation
Clinical, conduct, probity or boundaries: the same three things are weighed whatever the concern.
Revalidation and appraisal
Reflective accounts for NMC revalidation and reflection for GMC appraisal and other regulators’ CPD.
What the course covers
A live course of 5 CPD hours by Zoom, with breaks, finishing with your own action plan. The certificate is issued on completion.

Building insight into your own case
Reflections and discussions that build insight into your own situation or case.
Collective reflection
Discussion that helps you remediate, and helps you write your reflective pieces afterwards.

How this helps if you have been asked to show insight
Four terms recur in regulatory letters: fitness to practise, insight, reflection and remediation. Insight is understanding what went wrong, why, and the effect it had; reflection sets that understanding down honestly in your own words; remediation is the concrete steps taken, with evidence that they happened. The workshop is built around all three.
Most people find the reflection the hardest part to write alone. Working on it live, with a facilitator and other professionals, helps you see what a reader will take from it before your regulator does.
On completion you receive a dated CPD certificate of 5 CPD hours. With your written reflection, it is evidence for a fitness to practise response, a hearing, a remediation portfolio or your appraisal and revalidation records.

Who facilitates
Frequently asked questions
Who is the Reflection Workshop for?
Any UK healthcare professional who needs to show insight, write a reflection or evidence remediation for a complaint, an employer investigation or a fitness to practise investigation with the GMC, NMC, GDC, GPhC, HCPC, GOC, GCC, GOsC or Social Work England, and anyone who wants a live course on reflective practice for CPD, appraisal or revalidation.
Will I write my own reflection during the day?
You work on your own situation throughout, with discussion that builds insight, and you leave with a structure for your reflective pieces and a SMART action plan. Most people write the final version afterwards, in their own words.
Is this course really face to face?
It runs live by video link on Zoom. Face to face here means live and interactive, with a facilitator and other participants, rather than a self-paced recording. You see and speak to the people taking part; the room is a video call. If you would rather work privately, a one-to-one version is available for £250 on top of the course price.
How long is the day, and what is the format?
The course starts at 9.30am and finishes at about 2.30 to 3.00pm, with a lunch break and two tea or coffee breaks. It carries 5 CPD hours and is CPD certified and accredited by The CPD Certification Service (provider no. 13197).
What certificate do I get, and when?
A 5 CPD hour certificate, issued on completion and emailed to you after the course. It records your name, the course title, the CPD hours and the date. You can put it in a remediation portfolio, with a written response to your regulator, or in your appraisal and revalidation records, alongside your own reflection.
Do I have to be under investigation to attend?
No. The course is built for healthcare professionals facing a complaint, an investigation or a fitness to practise process, and it is equally used for CPD and for appraisal evidence. Taking it before anything has gone wrong is a perfectly ordinary reason to come.
Can I take it with online courses?
Yes. In the Bulk Buy bundle you choose ten online courses for £500 and add this live course at £449, £949 in total. The online courses are self-paced and each carries its own CPD certificate.
